This massively popular online game required constant online video content — from monthly marketing campaigns, to music videos and app releases.
Directing — Storyboards — Animation — Compositing
The massive multi-player world of Club Penguin has so many stories to tell, and a giant community that wants somuch content. Being part of the marketing team, I had the privilege to be a part of developing these side stories that connected to and enhanced the main story. We found unique ways to engage the community with music videos, competitions and hiding easter eggs in every video.
I was responsible for animation and directing animated content from storyboards to final compositing, and I have been part of the concepting team for almost every animated Club Penguin video from 2011 to 2017.
Music Videos —
My favourite projects were the music videos. A chance to get creative and much less literal, and a chance to develop the mascots (DJ Cadence) and their personnas outside the game.
App Trailers —
The challenge is always to show the gameplay while telling a story, while adhering to children's advertising guidelines. We wanted to create reason for kids to want to be on top of the leaderboard, so we created a legend...
Partner Campaigns —
Working with amazing partners like Pixar, or Lucasfilm, we had to find ways to preserve our brand, while combing the partner company's characters and stories.
